After the wax pieces have been gated they are taken
to the ceramic molding area, also known as 'investing'.
They are then coated in layers with a liquid refractory ceramic which
completely envelops the pieces and gating sprues. Successive coats of ceramic sand
are also added to form a very strong and final mold.
